As the Trump administration continues to withdraw from the world stage, China is looking to fill the void. How does Latin America fit into China’s “One Belt, One Road” plan? How will the relationship with China affect the region? Should the U.S. be concerned about China’s growing “sphere of influence”?
The Paul Pratt Memorial Library will offer its Great Decisions 2020
discussion program online via Zoom, an online meeting site. A virtual meeting link from Zoom will be emailed to registered participants. The Foreign Policy Association
(parent of Great Decisions) has generously opened access to its Great
Decisions DVD to everyone via youtube. Our visiting scholars will also be
contributing their knowledge in our Zoom meetings. Following their lecture,
we will open the session up for Q&A. Each session will be recorded for those
who cannot participate in the meeting. After the meeting, please take a few minutes to fill out the Participant Survey, save it and email it to gwalsh@ocln.org as an attachment. Our sponsor, MassHumanities, welcomes the feedback.
Great Decisions is a nation-wide, foreign policy discussion group offered by the Foreign Policy Assocation, a non-profit, non-partisan organization whose aim is to better inform members of the community about world issues, engage people in informative discussions, and to inspire others to become involved citizens. Registered participants will receive a complimentary copy of the Great Decisions Briefing book as long a supplies last. Discussions will be lead by informed scholars on a variety of topics found in the Briefing book. This program is free to the public. Participants may attend one, several, or all of the eight weekly sessions.
This program is sponsored in part by The Friends of the Cohasset Library, the Paul Pratt Memorial Library, and by a grant from Mass Humanities.
