Join us on August 7th for "500 Years of Brass" as the Charles River Brass Quintet presents a free, family-friendly performance featuring music from the Renaissance to the present.
The Quintet, whose members are professional performers and educators, demonstrates the many sides of the brass quintet in this concert, which will feature music ranging from 16th-century madrigals to contemporary showpieces. Works to be included on the program include popular selections as well as rarely-heard pieces by Carlo Gesualdo, enfant terrible of Renaissance Italy, Viktor Ewald, the father of modern brass chamber music, and Canadian composer Morley Calvert, whose "Suite from the Monteregian Hills" takes a humorous look at country living; perfect for a summer evening!
The performance features Allison Damon and Luca Antonucci, trumpet, Hsin-Yu Lin, horn, Benjamin Court, trombone, and Levi Schmitt, bass trombone.
This program is generously sponsored by the South Shore Playhouse Associates.
