The South Shore Art Center presents a photography exhibit by Keith Conforti at the library May 1st through August 31st. All are welcome at a reception on June 21st.
I use photography to explore neglected and forgotten world around us, and to present these images in a way that we can appreciate the contradiction of their repelling, yet beautiful, appearance.
These subjects have taken on new life through decay. They tell a story of past and present—what once was, what remains, and what new life has emerged from the ravages of time and neglect.
My goal is to make photographs that draw viewers into these stories about time that look backward and forward simultaneously to show the timelessness of our human world as it changes.
My subject matter comes from my interest in, and ideas about, human progress, history, visual design, the order of nature and the emotional connections with what is in our midst every day—yet we commonly avoid because it causes discomfort.
